Welcome to my Website and thank you for visiting.
I am a Developer / IT Professional from Dundalk, Ireland.
I am currently working for Aramex International as Ireland IT Manager / Developer.
Over the years I have worked for a number of companies in different Industries from Manufacturing, Transportation and the Food Industry.
My time working in the IT Industry is over 12 years, mostly good experiences with some bad, as expected from IT.
IT is mainly a service industry with the IT Department treated as a seperate part of many businesses, more of a customer service department for the Internal Staff of the company.
It is the role of the IT professional to offer the best customer experience to the Internal Staff and fix their computer related issues within the agreed Service Level Agreement.
For this reason alone, IT can be a bitch of an Industry to work in, and you need a very thick skin to stick it over a prolonged period of time. Thankfully I have developed a thick skin to deal with the IT business.
I studied Software Development in Dundalk Institute of Technology and further studied Information Systems in Dublin City University.
Out of this study I acheived a Diploma in Software Development from Dundalk IT and an Honours Degree in Information Systems from Dublin City University.
I have a very keen interest in Software Development and Web Development and I love designing systems and developing them from Ideas into completed working systems that people use on a daily basis.
This leads me on to a passion that I have regarding Software Development.
Everyone should know how to program code, be it from the simplest of programs to the most experienced systems. Software runs almost everything we use, from our phones, laptops, gaming consoles, TVs and even cars.
And yet, only 16% of the worlds population know how to program code. This is an amazing statistic. Only 16% of everyone on the planet have the capability to program software, and yet,
there are hundreds of thousands of IT / Programming Roles going vacant every year due to a lack of qualified people.
This doesnt make sense!
For this reason, I have decided to promote programming and coding whenever I can. Visit CoderDojo.com and Code.org to make a start in your programming adventure.
And remember we all have Super Powers, mine is Software Development.
What is yours?
