This week we learned that Peak6 put a valuation on the club and it’s assests for sale of €2 million, a figure that has left many Dundalk FC fans bemused at what was on sale for that money.

My inital thoughts when I read about this valuation was that it was very cheap but thinking more about it over the last few days and given we won’t be playing European football next season, what exactly is for sale?
Is the YDC considered an asset?
I have written extensively in the past about the incompetence of Peak6 and their lessons on ‘How not to run a football club’ , so even now after our cup exit to St Pat’s on Friday Night surely even they can see that time is up on their ‘project’.
Im sure it speaks volumes in some way that Peak6 have removed all signs of Dundalk FC from their corporate website, this surely means something? Surely?
But given how absentee these owners have been towards Dundalk FC supporters, I won’t be holding my breath to hear any announcements from them.
On Tuesday this week we learned that Peak6 had bought a minority share in Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, commonly known as Wolves, as a Dundalk FC supporter it was hard to see our owners giving more time, a year apparently, to finalize their investment in Wolves than to their own football club, if they gave that much attention to us and that level of investment we wouldn’t be fighting a relegation battle and we would be looking towards UEFA competition next season. They truly have failed us and spectacularly at that.

Bill Hulsizer had an interview with James Rogers some months back were he spoke about focusing on the positives, so let’s do that.
Our loss tonight is actually a good thing, bear with me before you hunt me down and give me a slap across the head, let’s focus on the positives:
Our loss tonight means:
- With no European football next season the clubs valuation is significantly lowered.
- It reduces the bargaining power that Peak6 have.
- It could force a quick sale of the club.
- With the clubs valuation being alot lower than the inital valuation of €2 million, it opens the door for the supporters club to get involved with the new owners and look for a seat on the board, this is an opportunity and nothing more at this stage.
- If the club was sold quickly it could potentially mean that new owners could finalize contract negotiations of our core team. Potentially.
While there are of course major downsides with having no European football next season my main focus is hoping to see an end to the reign of Peak6 at Dundalk FC, and I’m sure many if not all Dundalk FC supporters would feel the same.
Of course we will see players leave to teams that can offer European football, Of course we will see cutbacks and a possible clear out of players, that’s to be expected I’d say, but with Peak6 still there next season we are facing relegation, I don’t see us fighting for the title if we lose the core of the team and given we don’t have any contracts signed except for Andy Boyle and Ryan O’ Kane, next season could be a long long season if the Americans remain in Oriel Park.

I mentioned during the week about the supporters club looking to be part of the new ownership, maybe making an investment as part of a consortium, while this was an idea it’s main purpose was to open the discussion amongst the supporters, to put the idea out there and to potentially investigate the ins and outs if such a plan, by no means was I expecting the Supporters Club to front up any money in a short timeframe, but I do think we need to learn from history and be involved in any new ownership, be involved in the day to day running of the club in someway and be more involved overall. If history was to teach us anything it would be we cannot let owners be in control 100% with no say from the supporters, at the end of the day this is still OUR club and any owners are merely custodians for future generations.

#Peak6Out.
End.
