It happened. Finally. We, Dundalk Supporters, can finally rejoice. Our absentee owners are gone. Peak6 have sold the club to Andy Connolly and StatsSports.
The news broke this evening and was confirmed by the club.
After three years, that started off looking promising, but ended in utter incompetence, the reign of Peak6 as owners of Dundalk FC is over.
A collective “Good Riddance” could be heard all across the town, surrounding areas and on social media. The circus has finally ended, the ring masters and clowns have packed up their vans and are leaving Dundalk.
Over the last three years, Peak6 have delivered two league titles, two FAI cups, one Europa League group stage qualification and the presidents cup, not to forget the Unite The Union Cup in 2019 against Linfield.
Some might look back at that return and say, that’s not bad for three years, and they would be right if it wasn’t for the fact that Matt Hulsizer put his father in control of the most successful Irish football club in the last decade and he single handedly destroyed it.
It was some effort when you look back at it, how could one man be so incompetent to take a club like Dundalk FC and in 18 months bring it to it’s knees, some achievement.
When the history books are written the legacy of Peak6 as owners, custodians of our club will be nothing but a stain on its illustrious history, it will be the ‘lets not talk about that’ era of the clubs history, but we should talk about it because we cannot let our club end up in that situation again.
We must ensure that The 1903 Supporters Club remains and has a voice for all supporters, yes, rejoice in this moment and welcome our new owners, but let’s not be complacent again, let’s engage with the club and the club with the supporters.
Dundalk FC will never die, we may go through difficult times, hard times, but we will prevail stronger together.
Lets get behind our club now, it needs us now more than ever, buy the merchandise, purchase your season tickets and go to the games.
The future is brighter.
